Languages, Little Kids, and La Liga

Hey there! Hope you're all doing awesome! I love you all and think about you every day. :) Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I'll try to blog more frequently. So anyway, last week was long, but it had its highlights, namely the ACA Orientation. Two hours of excitedly daydreaming of Spain. Profe gave us tips on living abroad, things like emphasizing humility as an American and not being afraid to make a fool of ourselves when it comes to trying our tongue at the language. I'm pretty good at making a fool of myself, so I'm not too worried about that part. Then some of last year's ACA kids had a Q&A session for us. They're all really cool, especially a couple of people who went to Argentina and have basically been my Spanish mentors all this year. I hope to do 'em proud in España. The other highlight of the week was Kidzreach, a campus ministry in which we hang out with underprivileged kids for a whole Sabbath. It was my last one of the quarter, sadly, but maybe the most fun one this year. We went to Ocean Beach in San Fran. It was freezing!! My friend Kaileen and some of the kids dragged me into the ice cold water, just to prove so I could say that the beaches are better in Hawaii. Too bad I knew that already. We cruised there all day: fed the kids three square meals, played football, got buried in the sand, and looked for little lost shoes. I'm gonna miss Kidzreach next year when I'm in Spain. It's so rewarding to befriend and care for those sweet kids. Most of the PUC students who help out are juniors and seniors, funny friends and great influences. That's what I've missed about being a freshman: having all these surrogate big brothers and sisters to hang out with and learn from. I've met bunches of people like that who are helping me find myself. You sent me to the right place, mom and dad. :) PUC is great, God is awesome, and I'm falling asleep. Time to go. Keeping you in my prayers. Till next time!

Love,
Colleen

P.S.
Barcelona (soccer team in Spain) won the Spanish La Liga. I've decided to make them my team. Trying to get into soccer before goin to Spain. :)

One and a half more months!!

So it's crazy to think it, but, my first year of college is almost over! It went by soooo fast, and it may have been the most fun I've ever had in my long school life! Mentally, I'm in summer mode, but I know I still have to buckle down for the stretch run. (For further reference, my major is Intercultural Communications with a Spanish emphasis. I'm also pre-med, but that might change in the near future.) This quarter I'm taking general chemistry, English 101, intermediate Spanish III, softball, and a journalism class: news reporting and writing. My days usually go something like this:

8:00 - sloooowwwwlllyyyyy (you know me) shove myself out of bed (I thought it would be great to have class at 9 instead of at 8 like in high school, but I've gotten so used to it that I never feel like I get to sleep in!)
8:20 - (but I get ready fast!) go to breakfast with my friend (helps us wake up and catch up with each other before class)
9:00 - chem (boring, mostly just take notes)
10:00 - English (more interesting, lots of discussions and writing)
11:00 - Spanish (my favorite! working on my speaking skills this quarter)
12:00 - softball (very fun! Monday and Wednesday)
1:00 - lunch (lately they always have burgers. their burgers are gross. i usually eat something else.)
2-4 : work in the financial office (my bosses - all 7 of them! - are hilariously cool to work with)
(on Wednesday afternoons I have chem lab from 2-5)
4:00-5:15 - news reporting and writing (love it! picking up basic journalism skills. Tuesday and Thursday)
5:15 - co-ed softball intramurals (spring quarter special)
6:00 - dinner with the "Asian crew"
7:00 - homework till I either finish or give up (just kidding!)

Bedtime? Varies depending on the homework load. Average? Uhhh, you probably don't want to know. So there's my day in a nutshell! Hope it didn't bore you. More later.

Con cariño (with affection/love),
Colleen

Hi there! :)

To whomever is reading this (probably family and really close friends), thanks, and welcome! I have decided to write a blog as a way to keep in touch with y'all. Just thought it'd be fun to let you know every so often what adventures we're having here up at good ol' PUC. Well, this is just the first entry so I'll keep it short. I hope you're all doing fabulously! I miss and love you! Take care!

Love,
Colleen

P.S.
I'm pretty sure you can comment even if you don't have a blogspot account, so comment away! :D
